Pol Roger's most prestigious Cuvee, only ever made in the finest vintages, a cepage of Grand Cru Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, sourced exclusively from vineyards which were under vine during Churchill's time. The relationship between Churchill and Roger dates back to a luncheon some months after the liberation of Paris, at which was served the sumptuous 1928 vintage. In attendence were Sir Winston and the beautiful Odette Pol-Roger. They struck up an instant rapport and the friendship between their families endures to this day.

The lightness and elegance of Chardonnay from the town of Epernay itself and Cote des Blancs, perfection in pink, the noble House of Pol Roger will never release Vintage Rosé until it is aged at least seven years under the Roger cellars. The very fine and persistent mousse for which Pol Roger is renown, owes much to these deep, dark, damp and cool temperature cellars.

Pol Roger is remembered by local Champenois for his resistance against the German army. The grateful townsfolk continued to re elect Roger as mayor until 1935, when they bestowed the honour upon him for life. It was the Champagne of Winston Churchill, who as everybody knows, was satisfied only by the best. Finished without the traditional liqueur expedition dosage, Extra Brut articulates the perfect balance between the holy trinity of grapes, to speak eloquently of the refined balance between Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier.

Pol Roger et Cie are one of the few remaining Maison du Champagne, still in the hands of the establishing family. To this day, Roger et fils take personal charge in the selection of Cru and the handling of Cuvees. Pol Roger Vintage Brut is one of Champagne's great wines, a cépage of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, splendid upon release after several years of age in own bottle under the estate Chais at Epernay. Soft, with a deep palate and extrordinary perfume, a wine of breeding, complexity and finesse.

Made with hand picked grapes from sixty year old Grenache vines, this specially selected fortified wine was matured in small oak barriques at Pirramimma Estate. The 2002 vintage has produced an exceptionally fine wine, rich and full bodied, with underlying fresh fruit flavours. There are rich rancio characters and a smooth, immensely satisfyingly palate. A luscious desert wine exhibiting cherries and spices on the nose, complex mouth filling flavours and a long-lasting finish. The 100% Grenache content gives this fortified wine the correct weight of acid and fruit sugars, that can often be found lacking in brandied wines.

For generations Pirramimma have been producing Tawny Ports of immense character and flavour, the Old Digby is a distinguished, thick rich wine artfully crafted from unique Grenache and Shiraz vines grown around the ancient Pirramimma vineyards. Following in the tradition of great Australian aged Tawny Ports, this luscious wine is named after Digby Johnston, responsible for making some of the memorable Pirramimma Ports of the 1950s and 60s. Pirramimma has produced this luscious style of Port for many generations, the youngest component is at least twelve years old. Assembled from stocks of Grenache, Shiraz and Pedro of various vintages, which have been matured in small old oak barrels and fortified with brandy spirit, to construct a rich and complex fortified wine.

As Australia's first PhD in viticulture, founder of Pipers Brook Vineyard and Pirie Estate, recipient of the Australia Medal for his services to Tasmanian tourism and wine, Andrew Pirie's contribution to the industry is almost without peer. Pirie Sparkling is the latest instalment of a project that began with the inaugural launch in 1995, it was received with immense international acclaim. Established in 1909, one of the founding fathers at Compagnie Francaise des Grands Vins was agronomist engineer Eugene Charmat, eponymous inventor of the fermentation technique now employed to create the majority of sparkling wines around the world. Vinified from the noble cepage of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, Pierre Deville Vin Mousseux is treated to an extended period of ageing on sedimentery yeast lees, infusing the wine with complexity and enriching the palate with creaminess, all balanced by a refreshingly dry and crisp finish.

For Peter Seppelt Wines, traditions continue. The Seppelt family has been making wine since the middle of the 19th century, present day Peter Seppelt is the fifth generation to preserve the heritage. In more recent times, Karl, Lotte and Peter came across 120 hectares of splendid winegrowing terroir in the Barossa. That was twenty five years ago, the vines have fully matured and it has come to be known as Grand Cru Estate. A very dry fortified aperitif wine with a developed intense aged yeast character, a long lasting finish.

Every now and then, Peter Lehmann releases a rare jewel from deep within the cellar. The King is a superb fortified wine of great distinction which has laid undisturbed in the bottle for many years under the Peter Lehmann Tanunda Cellars. Twelve years old upon release, The King is showing the benefits of extended bottle age. A rich and mature cepage of Shiraz with Touriga Nacional, grown to good Barossa vineyards, the King must be decanted carefully, as a vintage Port of this distinction will show some sediment and crust. A treasure of a wine.

Peter Lehmann's story with Noble Semilon goes back many years, when Andrew Wigan had the good fortune of experiencing vintage within the vineyards at Chateau d'Yquem, home to the greatest sweet white wine in the world. What he had assumed to be spoilage, was in fact Botrytis Cinerea. Traditionally, Botrytis affected wines are the most complex and longest lived of all. The Barossa Valley is an ideal region for late harvest, given the quality of local Semillon and the warm conditions that continue well into vintage.

A wonderful wine and an enduring articulation of Chardonnay from Cote des Blancs, the noblest of white grapes from the world's premiere appellation, confering immense elegance, lightness and finesse.
